Hey everyone! As your Wiki Representative, I'm here to help keep you all up to date with what's going on around Fandom. So here's a roundup of recent announcements and events.
Quick overview:
Trivia Quizzes are expanding on Fandom!
Users who visit Fandom will start seeing trivia quizzes on our top wikis, and the quizzes will be directly relevant to the page topic. These will initially only be visible to logged-out users, so it won't impact your regular logged-in user experience just yet. The ultimate goal is that all logged-in users will be able to create a quiz through the new quiz creation tool, but for now they can be set up by Staff.
If anyone would like to help create a quiz for this wiki to appear on a particular page, talk to me! As a Wiki Representative, I can help implement customized quizzes.
It's Women's History Month!
We're celebrating the accomplishments of women and the representation of women in media. Fandom is committed to breaking the bias through our active efforts of inclusion, and we’re calling everyone in and inviting you to amplify and unify your voices as we break the bias together.
Fandom is also spotlighting creators, IPs, and women behind-the-scenes at Fandom that break the bias by forging a path that supports women's equality.
Who are your favorite female characters and creators? Tell Fandom on the blog post!
Fandom will be upgrading to MediaWiki 1.37.
We're currently on MediaWiki 1.33, and the upgrading begins this month. This should be a fairly easy update, especially when compared to the massive transition to the Unified Community Platform (UCP).
This is not a change to the site’s design, so the wiki will look the same. There may be minor visual tweaks here or there as extensions are updated, but otherwise the wiki should pretty much look just as it does now. The update may affect CSS customizations, and as your Wiki Rep, I'm here to assist with that as well.
In case you missed it, February was Black History Month, and Fandom rounded out the month with a fantastic panel about Black Voices & Content in Genre IP. Check it out on Twitch!
Fandom stands with Ukraine.
Fandom is a global community, and many of us are feeling this conflict personally. Fandom stands with Ukraine and we are donating to key humanitarian organizations.
