An angry Berelain arrives with Annoura to protest his decision to have her return to Mayene because someone tried to assassinate her. While Rand is trying to convince Berelain it is best to leave, Cadsuane Melaidhrin arrives. Merana is afraid Cadsuane plans to do something hasty and her alarm spreads to Rand, the Asha'man, and to the Aiel Maidens on guard. Cadsuane effortlessly takes charge of the audience with Rand.
