A Memory of Light is the name given to the fourteenth and final novel of The Wheel of Time. It was due for publication in late 2011, however Tor has recently announced that the final volume will be released on January 8th, 2013.

Pre-release material

Three excerpts of the final book have been released on the publisher's website, Tor.com. An excerpt of the prologue on April 26th, an excerpt of chapter one on July 15th, and an excerpt of chapter eleven on September 2nd, 2012.

It was announced that the prologue of the book would be released as an e-book on the 2nd of October, 2012, however it was released early on the 19th of September.

On September 26th, 2012, the full text of chapter one was released on Tor.com.

Darrell Sweet, the artist of the covers of the series sadly passed away on December 5th of 2011. Prior to his passing, he was working on a cover for A Memory of Light. It depicts three women, presumably Elayne, Aviendha, and Min, standing around a funeral pyre.

On the 27th of February, 2012, artist Michael Whelan was chosen to produce the cover for the book. His cover art depicts Rand al'Thor holding Callandor at Shayol Ghul with Moiraine Damodred and Nynaeve al'Meara in the background.
