—Gambits, The Gathering Storm
- For other uses of the word "light," see Light.
The Banner of Light is the most commonly used banner by the Dragon Reborn and his forces. The banner's symbol is that of the ancient Aes Sedai before the Breaking. In the time period of the books, it is also called al'Thor's Banner.[1]
The False Dragon Guaire Amalasan used a modified version of the Banner of Light during his conquests, with the only difference being that the background was blue instead of red.[2]
Appearances[]
- Dobraine is carrying the banner at the battle of Dumai's Wells.[3]
- During the battle of Dumai's Wells, Mazrim Taim commands Jur Grady to raise the banner through the hole in the top of the protective shield created by the Asha'man.[3]
- On arrival in Cairhien after Dumai's Wells, it is flying from the towers of the city along with three other flags: The Dragon Banner, flag of Cairhien and that of House Saighan.[4]
- It is flying from the towers of Caemlyn's Inner City when Elayne Trakand returns to Andor in order to stake her claim to the Lion Throne.[5]
- Rand sends a copy of the banner to Tuon to request a meeting.
Trivia[]
The original cover of The Path of Daggers erroneously displays the disc on the banner with the left half coloured black and the right half coloured white, when in fact it should be the other way around, as the black half is supposed to resemble the Dragon's Fang, while the white half is supposed to resemble the Flame. However, some renditions of The Path of Daggers cover do display the disc in its correct form.
