Careane Fransi was an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, who was also secretly a member of the Black Ajah.

Appearance and Personality

She is described as stout, but graceful. Her bulk was muscle rather than fat. She had wide shoulders and arms as thick as most men's. She was 5'5" or 166cm tall.

Strength and Abilities

Careane is of low average strength for an Aes Sedai, with a One Power level of 27(15). She would be unable to Travel without linking with another channeler. She was the weakest of the sisters sent by Salidar to Ebou Dar.

History

She was from Arad Doman. She was a novice for two years with Zarya Alkaese, now known as Garenia Rosoinde. She had three Warders, Cieryl Arjuna, Venr Kosaan and Tavan Shandare. Only Venr was a darkfriend.

She had been Aes Sedai for more than fifty years. Careane could have been in the same heart as Marillin Gemalphin, for she was the one who revealed her as Black Ajah.

Born in 910 NE, she went to the White Tower in 926 NE. She spent 12 years as a novice and 11 as Accepted.

Ebou Dar

She was part of the Salidar Aes Sedai and was sent to Ebou Dar as part of their embassy. She acted as the Seat of Pardon when Merilille decided to put Elayne on trial for her discovery of the Kin.

She Traveled with the the group led by Nynaeve al'Meara and Elayne from Ebou Dar to the Kin's farm with the Bowl of the Winds. It was Careane who revealed her face at the Kin's farm, resulting in the panic and flight of many of the women there.

In the Blue Reception Room in the Caemlyn Palace, Careane and Sareitha Tomares threaten the mercenary captains present about the power of the White Tower, to help Elayne bring them under control.

Adeleas' murderer revealed

Some time after Samwil Hark leads Elayne, Careane, Sareitha and Vandene Namelle to the house on Full Moon Street where they go to arrest Mili Skane and the Black Ajah sisters with her.

While inside Careane was identified as Black Ajah and is presumed to be the murderer of Adeleas Namelle and Ispan Shefar, and likely the murderer of some members of the Kin. Vandene stabbed her with a knife as punishment for the murder of her sister. Presumably Careane died from the blow a short time after.
