Chai Rugan is a Kandori Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah, who is secretly a member of the Black Ajah.[1]

During the White Tower Schism, she remains a loyalist to the Tower.
Chai is one of thirty-nine sisters sent to escort the Dragon Reborn to Tar Valon. As such, she was present at the Battle of Dumai's Wells, but managed to escape.
She is one of twelve sisters kept in Dorlan in order to prevent word of the Tower's defeat from reaching the city.[2]
She was first mentioned in Verin Mathwin's book, naming her a Darkfriend.
She fled from the White Tower after Egwene al'Vere became Amyrlin Seat.
