Setting: Rebel Aes Sedai camp outside Tar Valon |
Summary[]
Point of view: Egwene al'Vere
Egwene is with Gareth Bryne watching supply ships coming down the river to Tar Valon. The Rebel Aes Sedai haven't been able to stop the city from being resupplied by ship although they do hold all of the land approaches. Gareth requests that Egwene begin an assault using Gateways to put his men into the city but she does not want open conflict between the two Aes Sedai groups. The chain blocking the harbor drops, allowing the ships to enter the harbor but preventing an attacking force from entry. Delana talks with Egwene as they ride back to camp, giving her advice and probing to find out her plans and who her real allies are among the Aes Sedai. Delana mentions some Sitters are interested in opening negotiations with Elaida on how to reunite the tower.
Yesterday Egwene sent a small group of Aes Sedai to investigate the vast channeling that took place a few days before. Despite advice against by most of her advisors and Delana, Egwene gives Beonin permission to open negotiations. Egwene then sets the terms she will accept, Elaida to resign as Amyrlin Seat and go into exile.
