Setting: Rebel Aes Sedai camp outside Tar Valon

Summary[]

Point of view: Egwene al'Vere

Egwene enters the tent that serves as her study to find Siuan and Halima waiting for her. Halima encourages Egwene to talk over any worries she has with her since she claims she doesn't have an agenda unlike almost anyone else. As Halima is dismissed, Egwene starts to get a headache which usually requires Halima's massages to soothe. Siuan distrusts Halima and tries to persuade Egwene not to rely on her so much. Siuan saw a list of the new Sitters for Elaida's hall and they are also younger than would normally be given a position as Sitter. Siuan believes something is going on with those decisions but hasn't been able to decipher what it is.

Egwene reviews the reports from Leane, that there is crime and unrest in Tar Valon since the Tower Guard is no longer patrolling as they should. There are many rumors about Arad Doman, but no way to tell which if any are true. Siuan mentions the Bargain that was made with the Sea Folk and Egwene's plans for the Kin, reminding her that those issues won't be able to be kept secret from the Hall forever. Since the Kin, having never been bound by the Oath Rod, live much longer than Aes Sedai, Egwene plans to allow Aes Sedai to retire into the Kin and remove their oaths. The Bargain to teach the Windfinders will probably not be taken very well, but it already agreed to.

The sisters sent to investigate the vast channeling that occurred a few days ago have returned and are ready to report what they found.
