The Deathwatch Guard are elite Seanchan personal guards to the Seanchan Empress. They are made up of both men and Ogier Gardeners. The humans are da'covale and are the private property of the Empress. If the person the Deathwatch Guard is protecting dies, the remaining human guards are executed.
Their armor is lacquered red and green, the latter so dark that it is commonly thought of as black. Ranks in the Deathwatch stand a half step above those in the Ever Victorious Army.[1]
Members of the Deathwatch Guard often display the ravens tattooed on their shoulders, the mark of a da'covale of the Empress.[2]
