A Doomseer is a Seanchan position for someone who is able to divine and interpret omens extremely skilfully. This position is highly respected in the Imperial Court. A true Doomseer is someone who is born with the ability to receive Viewings of future events in the Pattern, although Seanchan also knows that this ability is not tied to the One Power, as the Doomseers are very respected, unlike damane.
There have been no known individuals in Seanchan born with the ability to become a true Doomseer since c. 700 NE. When Empress Fortuona discovered that Min Farshaw was able to receive true Viewings, she immediately respected the woman and promoted her to Doomseer, despite Min's own objections to the totalitarian nature of Seanchan.
