He chases away Matrim Cauthon when Mat tries to pass on Elayne Trakand's letter to Morgase Trakand.[1] Mat sneaks in anyway and as Martyn Tallanvor escorts Mat out of the Royal Palace, Tallanvor scolds Elber for not allowing Mat into the Palace in the first place.[2]
