Guardian of the Southern Gate is a title of the Amadician monarch. While Amadicia is one of the southern nations, it, like Tarabon, doesn't sit on the Aryth Ocean. Instead, it is separated from the ocean and the Shadow Coast by a large streach of land. It may be that this is the "southern gate" mentioned in the title. The last known holder of the title was King Ailron.
