A hadori is a thin, braided leather headband worn by Malkieri men that holds back their hair.[2] Hadoris have not been seen very often since the downfall of Malkier. When a young Malkieri boy is given his hadori by a male relative or a Malkieri male acting in the place of a relative, it means that he has become a man among the Malkieri, more so than gaining his sword which, among the Borderlanders is a symbol of the transition from boyhood to manhood. Malkieri who wear the hadori are buried in it.[2] After the fall of Malkier the hadori remains a symbol of the Malkieri people and their commitment to stand against the darkness.
People who are seen to wear a hadori include Lan Mandragoran, Bukama Marenellin,[2] Weilin Aldragoran,[1] Bulen,[3] Andere, and Nazar Kurenin,[4] as well as many more who join Lan with the intention of riding under the banner of Malkier - the Golden Crane on a white backdrop.
