House Damodred is a major noble house of Cairhien, in fact one of the few royal houses able for a while to rule this kingdom. Elayne Trakand is a descendant of this house through her father, Taringail Damodred.
The sigil for this house is the Tree and Crown and its colors are red, green and white.

- Aiel War - In 976 NE, the Aiel War was directly provoked by King Laman Damodred cutting the tree Avendoraldera to build himself a magnificent throne. The Aiel invasion of the Westlands raged for three years, but came to an unexpected halt after King Laman died in battle.
- Fourth War of Cairhienin Succession - The Fourth War of Cairhienin Succession was triggered by the death of King Laman without a clear heir. His nephew Taringail was barred from the throne by law; his niece Moiraine rejected the throne, and other relatives were considered unsuitable. House Damodred was supplanted by House Riatin as the royal house under King Galldrian Riatin, although remained a powerful and influential house in the nation.
- Fifth War of Cairhienin Succession - The Fifth War of Cairhienin Succession raged after the bitter rivals King Galldrian Riatin and Lord Barthanes Damodred sent assassins after each other on the same night, with both men being killed. When Rand al'Thor seized control in the nation, the new High Seat, Lady Caraline Damodred opposed the forces of the Dragon Reborn, but eventually changed her mind. The next monarch to sit the Sun Throne was Queen Elayne Trakand, also of Andor, who claimed the throne through the right of her late father. Min Farshaw had a viewing that Lady Caraline would marry Darlin Sisnera, the first King of Tear.

The sigil of the House could possibly be a homage to the Kingdom of Gondor from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings novel, which also features a tree and a crown on its banner.
