Howal Gode was a merchant from Whitebridge and a Darkfriend.
Appearance[]
He was a fleshy man with soft-looking hands.
History[]
Gode is likely from Whitebridge, Andor. Rand refers to him as being a "Whitebridge merchant" by identifying his coach and dress as of the same type as the Whitebridge merchants clustered around the docks to do business when he arrived on the Spray.[1]
Activities[]
Gode tracked Rand al'Thor and Matrim Cauthon from Whitebridge along the Caemlyn Road, eventually catching up with them at the Dancing Cartman in Four Kings.[2]
Gode attempted to persuade, then threatened, Rand and Mat into submitting to him and the Dark One while they were attempting to escape from the Dancing Cartman. It was here that Rand channeled for the third time (the first when he removed Bela's fatigue, the second when he moved the boom on the Spray) and struck down Gode along with all his Darkfriend followers.[2] Gode was presumed dead after the encounter. When Ba'alzamon later visited Rand in a dream, the charred corpse of Gode was present and was then disintegrated by Ba'alzamon completely.[3]
In the television series[]
- Howal Gode does not appear in the television series, but the character of Dana is somewhat similar to him, being a Darkfriend who attacks Rand and Mat in the Four Kings Inn in Breen's Spring.
