Summary
Point of view: Elayne Trakand
Elayne Trakand watches an assault by Arymilla Marne's soldiers while Birgitte leads the defense on the wall. There have been many assaults in recent weeks, sometimes several in one day. Elayne doesn't have enough troops or even mercenaries to guard all of the walls circling Caemlyn. Instead they use the Kin to form gateways to take soldiers to the location of any attack. After the fight, a huge mass of black storm clouds loom over Low Caemlyn. Aviendha channels to disperse them, since Elayne has trouble channeling sometimes, leaving a steady downpour that soaks everyone's clothes. Birgitte wants to get back to the palace as fast as possible, so that the wounded can get Healing.
Back in the main stableyard of the palace they find a large group of Andoran soldiers led by Guardsman Lieutenant Charlz Guybon. There are ten thousand soldiers with him, having been found by a Kinswomen that was sent to look for loyal troops.
