Lorstrum rose to prominence after Rand al'Thor left Cairhien, as he neither supported or moved against the Dragon Reborn.
Queen Elayne Trakand brings him and a small group of Cairhienin nobles to Caemlyn where she first demonstrates her newly created Dragons. He then witnesses Arymilla Marne, Elenia Sarand, and Naean Arawn have their lands and titles stripped by Elayne. She then offers some of these estates to Lorstrum on the condition that he supports her ascension to the Sun Throne.
Lorstrum and Bertome Saighan greet Elayne when she Travels to Cairhien and escort her to the Royal Palace. As Elayne is about to sit down, Birgitte Silverbow checks her chair and finds a poisoned pin hidden in the cushion, shaming Lorstrum. Elayne then declares to the nobles gathered that all available men will be conscripted into the army and that Cairhien's forces will move out to join the Dragon Reborn's army gathered at the Field of Merrilor.
