Lunal Galgan is a Seanchan Captain-General in command of the soldiers of the Return.[1]

Appearance[]

He is tall with his white hair in a crest, its tail plaited to his shoulders. He has a creased face and blue eyes. His fingernails are lacquered red.

Activities[]

He sails over with Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag and the rest of the Return. He meets with Suroth Sabelle Meldarath and discusses the uprisings caused by Rodel Ituralde in Tarabon. He never directly takes command from Suroth due to Tuon's disappearance.

Once news of Empress Radhanan's death reaches him, he makes his move to absorb the Forerunners into the Return. However none of this matters when Tuon returns effectively taking control of all the Seanchan forces.

He is present when Tuon warns King Beslan Mitsobar not to cause a revolt against the Seanchan. He then brings forward Abaldar Yulan, who proposes the plan to take all raken and to'raken and make a quick strike at the White Tower. After Tuon meets with the Dragon Reborn she declares herself Empress and then accepts the plan to attack the White Tower.

Galgan is present when Melitene brings her Suffa, the former Amyrlin Seat who shows Fortuona and those gathered around her how to Travel. Fortuona decrees that all damane are to learn the weave in preparation for a full-scale attack on the White Tower using Traveling to transport the army there.

He hires assassins from the Seanchan occupied Randland to assassinate Tuon. Tuon and Selucia both consider this as an act of showing that he is ambitious but not too ambitious. Galgan watches Matrim Cauthon gather the Seanchan forces for Tarmon Gai'don. He expects Mat to be executed when he doesn't kneel to the Empress, but instead Mat is renamed Knotai and is promoted to the position of rodholder, which displeases Galgan. When Mat realizes that Lord Bryne is trying to lose the Last Battle, he tells Tuon that he needs full control of the army, over Galgan. Galgan looks as if he would rather swallow his own boots than have Mat in command, but he steps aside.

Later, he admits that he has rarely seen a battle commander as gifted as Mat. He fondly tells Mat that the first assassins he sends for him will be new, so that Mat can stop them with ease.
