Events[]
During the recent civil war in Cairhien, many thousands of refugees from Cairhien attempted to cross into Andor via Maerone and Aringill, leading to some difficulties for the government of Andor. During this time, the town was not under the control of any nation, being stuck half-way and filled with people of all nations. The White Lions of Andor flew their flag above the town walls and attempted to control the refugee situation.[1]
Later, during preperations for the Dragon Reborn's assault on Illian, Mat Cauthon led the Band of the Red Hand southwards from the town and hired supply ships there. It was in Maeron that Mat befriended Olver, who subsequently was 'adopted' by the Band.
