Marin al'Vere lives in Emond's Field with her husband Bran and their younger children. Mistress al'Vere is also the mother of Egwene al'Vere.
Appearance[]
Slender and motherly, with a thick gray braid,[1] Marin is a handsome woman.[2]

She "might have been able to learn to channel".[3]
Activities[]
As the best cook in the village, she fills that role in helping Bran run the Winespring Inn.[1] She is kind and welcoming to all, adapting very quickly to the presence of Aiel[4] and Ogier for the first time in the Two Rivers. As Egwene once remarked, "Two Rivers men may be stubborn but they could not match Two Rivers women." Her mother is said to be implacable when she has made up her mind.
She regularly gives Faile advice on how to handle men.[5]
As part of the Women's circle, she presides over the wedding of Perrin and Faile.[6]
She is also quite courageous as she helps defend Emond's Field against the invading Trolloc army, boldly joining the front lines when the Trollocs were about to break through to the village.[7]

Her name derives from that of a Hindu goddess of rain, Māri, or Mariamman, who is particularly popular in rural areas.[8]
