Mistress Asher was a merchant traveling through Canluum who was also a wilder.[1] She was staying at The Gates of Heaven where she encountered Moiraine Damodred along with six other Aes Sedai.[2] Because she was past middle-age and displaying grey hair, the Aes Sedai mutually agreed that she was too old to become a novice.[1][2]
