—Crossroads of Twilight, Chapter 18
Morvrin Thakanos is an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah.[1]
Appearance[]
Morvrin is 5'5" tall, round-faced and stout, with graying hair, brown eyes, plump hands, and ample hips[2][3].
Morvrin is a placid sort, sometimes with an absently vague look. She requires a great deal of proof for anything.
Strength and Abilities[]
Morvrin is strong in the One Power for an Aes Sedai. Among the Salidar Six, she is equalled by Myrelle Berengari, Carlinya Sorevin and Anaiya Carel with only Sheriam Bayanar stronger and Beonin Marinye weaker. However Morvrin serves the distinction of being much more senior, having worn the shawl for more than a hundred and fifty years longer than the others.
She is strong enough to Travel.
History[]
Morvrin is 223 years old. She was born in the year 777 NE in Illian and went to the Tower in 795 NE. After spending seven years as Novice and six as Accepted she was raised to the shawl in the year 808 NE.
She has a single Warder, Jori.
She says she believes in common sense more than logic, though she more often blends the two. She is hard-headed and suspicious of easy answers.[4]
Activities[]
Into Salidar[]
She is one of the original leaders of the Salidar Aes Sedai, known informally to fans as the Salidar Six. While searching the Amyrlin's study in Tel'aran'rhiod for information on what Elaida has received, the Salidar Six are attacked by a stray nightmare of Trollocs. They are saved when Elayne Trakand and Siuan Sanche have to remind them about the dream not being real, in which case the nightmare fades away leaving only injury[5].
She is with the rest of the Salidar Six in Tel'aran'rhiod when she summons Egwene al'Vere to become Amyrlin.
When Egwene is brought before the Rebel Hall of the Tower as a candidate for Amyrlin, Morvrin, Myrelle Berengari, and Sheriam Bayanar are the three sisters that enter the Hall as her necessary representatives.
She has sworn an oath of fealty to Egwene and become a member of Egwene's Council. She is with Egwene and Gareth Bryne when they survey the area around Tar Valon. [4]
Egwene captive[]
She is in council with Egwene's other advisors over Egwene's disappearance when Siuan arrives with the news that Egwene is still alive but prisoner inside the White Tower[6]. She wakes Beonin Marinye with this news.
The Black Ajah attack after a meeting is held in Tel'aran'riod by Egwene and other female channellers. Morvrin is there and she is one of the Aes Sedai who Egwene invites to flee before the Battle in Tel'aran'rhiod starts[7].
