Summary[]

Point of view: Moiraine Damodred
Gitara Moroso

"He is born again! I feel him!"

Moiraine Damodred and Siuan Sanche stand in attendance to Tamra Ospenya, the Amyrlin Seat, and Gitara Moroso, the Keeper of the Chronicles. Moiraine smells the burning caused from the battles that are happening near Tar Valon. While standing there Moiraine wishes to be present for one of Gitara's Foretellings but doesn't expect it to happen. She also notices that both Tamra and Gitara have been staring at the same pages for awhile, so they must be worried about the war going on. Suddenly trumpets sound in the distance and Tamra turns towards the windows where Moiraine and Siuan were standing. Tamra sends Moiraine to see if there is news from the battlefield, and Siuan to make tea.

Moiraine goes to the anteroom of the Amyrlin's apartments. There she asks Elin Warrel if any news had come. When she walks back into the room Siuan hands her a cup of tea to bring to Gitara. As she offers the cup to Gitara she jerks to her feet. Trembling, she stands with her arms rigid at her sides and stares over the top of Moiraine's head with terror. Gitara foretells of the Dragon being reborn on the slopes of Dragonmount. With the last word, she gasps and falls dead into Moiraine's arms.

Clearly upset, Tamra tells Moiraine and Siuan not to tell anybody about the Foretelling even if they must lie. They both agree. Tamra asks them to send in Elin Warrel, the novice on duty, so she can send her to get Gitara's serving woman. Moiraine figures she also wants to make sure Elin didn't hear anything.
