Pips is the nondescript brown gelding owned by Matrim Cauthon. He purchased the horse in Tear before traveling with Rand al'Thor and the Aiel to Rhuidean.[1] Mat has some of his father's ability to pick good horses, and chose this one for its deep chest and strong withers. Pips is named after the spots found on dice.[1]
Pips has accompanied Mat throughout his travels. Pips has been to Tear, Rhuidean, the Jangai Pass[2], Cairhien [3], Maerone[4], Salidar[5], Ebou Dar[6], various towns and villages throughout southern Altara[7], Murandy[8], and Caemlyn.[9]
