Radhanan Paendrag was the Empress of Seanchan and ruled from the Crystal Throne at the Court of the Nine Moons in Seandar. She was a direct descendant of Artur Hawkwing, via his son Luthair Paendrag Mondwin who led his expedition west across the Aryth Ocean.
History[]
During Radhanan's reign the Corenne and the Hailene, two vast imperial expeditions, were undertaken. She dispatched her second and most favored daughter, Tuon Athaem, to Ebou Dar in a secondary wave of the Corenne.
Empress Radhanan's name was never used by her subjects or her ministers. She was simply referred to as the Empress. The sigil of the imperial family was the Raven and Roses. Whatever Radhanan's personal sigil was has not been revealed. For sport, she would have male nobles take turns wearing an a'dam collar that was attached to a damane. Sometimes this would lead to the male (most likely a channeler) and the damane dying horrible deaths. Turak reports only the Empress had enough wealth to be so risky with the lives of damane.
Aside from Tuon, she had several children, including three other daughters: Aurana, Chimal, and Ravashi. She had a son named Halvate who was assassinated before Tuon left for the Corenne. Radhanan allowed her daughter Tuon to undertake training as a sul'dam, although that was unusual for a member of the imperial family. She named Tuon her chosen heir, though she liked her children competing for the succession, so that the strongest and most cunning child would end up ruling Seanchan.[1]
Radhanan and her remaining children were later slaughtered by Semirhage in a massacre in Seandar in which the entire imperial family and its government were destroyed, plunging the Seanchan Empire into civil war.
