Ragan is a Shienaran soldier.[1]
Appearance and personality[]
Ragan is young,[2] with dark hair[3] and a white triangle scar from a Trolloc arrow on his cheek.[4]
He has an easy, relaxed manner[4] and a wry sense of humor.[5]
Activities[]
He was the Shienaran that greeted Lan Mandragoran and group when they arrive in Fal Dara.[6]
When the Amyrlin arrived in Fal Dara, it was Ragan that told Rand that no one is allowed to leave.[4]
He was one of twenty Shienaran soldiers picked to pursue the Horn of Valere. Along with Masema Dagar, he swam across the river Erinin to retrieve the ferry and discovered the flayed corpses of Changu and Nidao.[7] When Rand, Ingtar, and the others visited Stedding Tsofu, Ragan was left just inside the stedding with most of the Shienarans.[8]
Ragan witnessed Rand's fight with Ishamael at Falme, after which he had the deepest respect for Rand.[3]
Following the Battle of Falme, Ragan and the other Shienarans accompanied Moiraine Damodred, Rand, and the rest of their party to the Mountains of Mist.[9] After the Shadowspawn attack on their camp, Moiraine sent the Shienarans, including Ragan, to Jehannah to meet with a contact of hers.[10][11] After the Shienarans went to Ghealdan and found that Moiraine's contact was dead, Ragan and the other Shienarans stayed close to Masema in his role as the Prophet because he provided them with enough to live on, even though Bartu and Nengar were the only ones who shared his particular fervor.[12][5]
While staying in Samara, he joined Uno Nomesta in bringing Nynaeve al'Meara to Masema, who charged Uno and Ragan with protecting Nynaeve until a boat arrived.[5] He followed Nynaeve to Salidar and joined the rebel Aes Sedai army under Gareth Bryne.[13][14][2][1]
During the Siege of Tar Valon, he brought news to Egwene al'Vere about raiders being in the vicinity of the rebel Aes Sedai camp.[2] It is unknown if Ragan and the other Shienarans joined the White Tower after the reunification, but the evidence suggests so, as several of them fought in the Last Battle.
