Seta Zarbey is a former sul'dam from Seanchan.[1]
Appearance[]
She is small and pale, with blue eyes and yellow hair.
Activities[]
Falme[]
She is captured by Nynaeve al'Meara in Falme while Nynaeve, Elayne Trakand, and Min Farshaw rescue Egwene al'Vere from captivity. Nynaeve forces her to wear an a'dam, which, to her horror, works on her as it would on a damane.[2] When Egwene escapes with Nynaeve and Elayne, she leaves Seta and Renna collared with a'dam in Egwene's kennel. On a planned visit to "Tuli", what Egwene was renamed as damane, the sul'dam Bethamin Zeami finds Seta and Renna attempting to release each other from the a'dam, vomit staining their dresses. Bethamin is so terrified at the realization that sul'dam can be collared that she flees Falme, leaving the pair to be found and released later by Alwhin.[3]
Seta later goes to Ebou Dar when the Seanchan capture the city. She is kept close by High Lady Suroth, who knows her and Renna's secret, but both sul'dam are prevented from linking with damane.
Seta follows Suroth to Seanchan controlled Ebou Dar. In Ebou Dar, Bethamin tells Egeanin Tamarath about Seta and Falme. Egeanin then uses Seta in Matrim Cauthon's plan to escape with some captive Aes Sedai.
Seta holds Edesina's a'dam as they escape from Ebou Dar.
After fleeing Ebou Dar, Mat's group joins up with Valan Luca's Traveling Circus as a cover to escape Seanchan notice.
She is present when Bethamin first channels at Joline Maza. Bethamin is now being taught to channel by Joline. Seta refuses to even look at the weaves, covering her eyes. She is now very timid around the Aes Sedai.
She finally asks the Aes Sedai to teach her to channel, but they refuse because they consider her to be too old. She copies a weave she sees Bethamin make, forcing the Aes Sedai into a decision to train her.
Traveling with the Band[]
After a skirmish with Darkfriends in Maderin, Mat and the rest of his group decide to leave Luca's show. While riding through Altara they meet up with the Band of the Red Hand and begin to travel with them.
Joline doesn't allow her to take part in the battle between the Band of the Red Hand and the Seanchan force that is trying to kill Tuon for the one hundred thousand gold crown reward.
She leaves Mat's company and makes her way to the White Tower with Bethamin, Edesina, and Joline. It is likely that she and Bethamin will enroll in the novice book. Mat tasks the Seanchan women to learn as much as they can so they can bring back their teachings to the Seanchan Empire.
