Isn't the ability that the Forsaken use to enter the world of dreams similar to opening a 'Travelling' Portal?
- I think it is, since Rand opens up a portal when he goes after Rahvin.
- Before she could travel using Gateways, Egwene al'Vere used the method of creating a gateway to Tel'aran'rhiod to travel great distances. It was through her exploration of the Gateway to the World of Dreams that lead her to rediscover Traveling.
- That said, Dreamwalking is not really the same as entering the dream in the flesh. Just because a channeler can open a gateway to Tal'aran'rhiod does not mean they can enter in sleep state. Also a person who enters in the flesh does not have access to the great void. The place inbetween worlds where a dreamwalker can interact with others dreams. --Rayblasdel 04:20, 26 March 2007 (UTC) (Updated --Rayblasdel 16:05, 27 March 2007 (UTC))
The section on the White Tower needs the references Verin gave about the last white tower dreamwalker. If someone has access to a copy of the The Dragon Reborn and can drop that in, it would be great. If not I'll get back to it. --Rayblasdel 16:54, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
The section on Wolfbrothers implies that other dream walkers can not interact with dead wolves in T'A'R. I always assumed that dead wolves, like dead heroes of the horn, simply avoided most of those in the dream. Also presumably speaking with wolves works the same way in the dream as it does in the real world, and thus a normal Dreamwalker couldn't speak with the wolves any more in T'A'R then they can in the real world. Dreaming and Dreamwalking[]
I have noticed that people on here seem to get very confused about Dreaming and Dreamwalking. I appreciate that they are easily mixed up but I've edited about 6 pages in the last 36 hours that have all got it wrong one way or the other and I've no doubt I will see many more, so I'm going to post this both here and on the Dreaming page in the hope that people will read it and understand.
So, to clarify: Dreamwalking is the ability to enter Tel'aran'rhiod at will while sleeping. Dreaming is the Talent of having prophetic dreams that show possible futures. It is assumed that all Dreamers are also Dreamwalkers, but few Dreamwalkers are Dreamers. Egwene is an example of one who is both, as well as some of the Wise Ones .
