Tamarla is one of the Kin and a member of the Knitting Circle in Ebou Dar.[1]
Appearance[]
She has long streaks of white in her dark hair. She is bone-lean with olive skin and dark eyes.
Strength[]
Her level of strength is 47(35), a very low level, two levels below the weakest known Aes Sedai.
History[]
Tamarla was born in Altara in 681 NE. She went to the White Tower in 696 NE and, after spending two years as Novice, was put out because she had reached her potential and was not strong enough to be tested as Accepted.[1]
Activities[]
She is insulted that the Aes Sedai think the Kin are lying about their numbers. Sareitha Tomares calls her a liar to her face.[2]
She is among the Kin who accompany Elayne Trakand and Nynaeve al'Meara to the Rahad to find the Bowl of the Winds. She only just survives when the gholam attacks. Nynaeve seems to find her injuries difficult to Heal, but Sumeko Karistovan steps in and saves her, using techniques even Nynaeve does not know. After Tamarla is Healed she takes care of Janira's dead body.[3]
Tamarla shows respect for Matrim Cauthon.[4]
She Travels with the the rest of the group led by Nynaeve and Elayne from Ebou Dar to the Kin's farm with the Bowl of the Winds. She pulls of Ispan Shefar's hood in a rough manner.[5]
She is one of the Kin who is ready to come to blows with the Sea Folk Windfinders and embraces the Source ready for a fight.[5]
Tamarla is not mentioned after The Path of Daggers/Chapter 1, but would have travelled to Caemlyn with Elayne and stayed at least until sha had gained the throne. The Knitting Circle was disbanded as their authority only held in Ebou Dar. Her weakness in the Power means that she would likely not have gone back to the White Tower and cannot return to Ebou Dar. Like Alise Tenjile, she may have agreed to terms by Elayne Trakand for some of Kin to serve the Andoran crown.[6]
Errata[]
The Wheel of Time Companion says that Kirstian Chalwin is the youngest member of the Knitting Circle, but the birth years given puts Tamarla as a year younger than her. She appears much older, however, because of her relative weakness in the One Power.[7][1]
