Tam al'Thor's sword is the first sword Rand ever owned, given to him by Tam al'Thor on Winternight after the Trollocs attacked Emond's Field. It was later destroyed when Rand fought Ba'alzamon over Falme.

The sword, scabbard and belt is described in detail during the Winternight attack:
A thick belt slanted around Tam's waist, and from the belt hung a sword, with a bronze heron on the black scabbard and another on the long hilt... No gems or gold adorned it, but it seemed grand to him, nonetheless. The blade, very slightly curved and sharp on only one edge, bore another heron etched into the steel. Short quillons, worked to look like braid, flanked the hilt.[1]
It was made with the One Power and over 3000 years old. Lan comments that it is extremely rare and valuable. He describes it as having belonged to a "lord-general" who was already a Blademaster.[2] How a farmer from the Two Rivers, even one who became a high-ranking member of the Illianer Companions, came across such a sword is not known.
