Summary[]
- Point of view: Rand al'Thor
Rand wanders the Stone, reminiscing about his earlier travels with Mat, Perrin, Loial and Hurin. He wonders about the prophecies about Callandor and the lack of any mention of the Choedan Kal. He considers kicking Cadsuane from the Stone to enforce his exile. His anger is buried deep but is still there because of the defiance of the Borderlanders, the Seanchan and the Aes Sedai. Perhaps he should use the Choedan Kal against the Seanchan. He recalls his attempt to bring a dead girl back to life, the memory prompted by Lews Therin. He resolves to drive the Seanchan back in to the sea.
He returns to his rooms and finds Tam waiting. Their meeting starts out awkward since Rand has changed so much. They finally begin to chat a bit more normally. Tam is giving encouragement to Rand when he accidentally mentions Cadsuane which infuriates Rand so much he almost kills Tam, almost channels Balefire to kill everyone. He sees Tam's terrified face and comes to his senses. He weaves a gateway to Ebou Dar.
