Tower Guards are soldiers that defend the Aes Sedai and the White Tower in the city of Tar Valon. They are led by the High Captain, who answers to the Amyrlin Seat.[1]
12,000 Tower Guards were used in the Aiel War and were part of the Great Coalition.[verify][2]
Elaida, under the influence of Alviarin,[verify][2] decreed that the Tower Guard be increased to 50,000 men.[3] However, how large it managed to grow before Egwene took the city is unknown.
The Tower Guard may have been part of the White Tower army during Tarmon Gai'don. It remained a separate force from the army raised by Gareth Bryne.
