Treesinging

Treesinging is a Talent unique to the Ogier Treesingers in the modern days. With the Songs of Growing they stimulate the growth of living things, mostly plants and trees. It also allows them to use different songs to control the growth and to communicate, in a fashion, with the plant; Treesingers are known to produce extremely distinctive, valuable wooden crafts. They are able to make these wooden crafts without in any way harming the tree, "pulling" the shaped wooden artifact out of the tree without hurting it. The ability seems to have dwindled in recent times; Loial is one of the most talented Treesingers in a very long time.

During the time of the Age of Legends these songs were sung by Aiel and other people during Seed Singing which with the use of Nyms, made their agriculture extremely effective.

Rand listened to Loial singing to trees two times. First time at the Eye of the World when the Ogier brought back a dying tree to life and Rand described the song as if "the earth itself sang". Second time Loial sings to a tree in an alternate reality of their world and that time it sounded as the Ogier murmured his song and "the land echoed it in a whisper". It seemed pure song, music without words, or if there were any Rand could not hear them. But the song caught him up hypnotically, filling his mind almost the way the void did. "It seemed so familiar as if he should know it."

Lews Therin most probably used to sing those songs and he had the Voice, so did Ilyena as it is indicated in the Prologue of he Eye of the World. After Rand and Lews Therin became one person Rand used that "trick" during his meeting with Matt and Tuon in Ebu Dar when he was shielded from the One Power, yet he made Tuon's garden green and flourishing.

There were other examples for "unexpected plant behaviour" around Rand.
