Setting: Royal Palace of Andor, Tel'aran'rhiod' |
Summary[]
Point of view: Elayne Trakand
Elayne is with Egwene in tel'aran'rhiod, visiting Emond's Field. The village has grown into a town and changed much in the two years since she left. Elayne suggests that Egwene visit after the rebel Aes Sedai travel to Tar Valon. Egwene decides she doesn't wish to try to convince everyone she knows there that she is the Amylin Seat. Egwene is concerned about rumors of Aes Sedai swearing fealty to Rand.
She leaves the world of dreams to find it is already sunrise and wakes Aviendha. After getting dressed Elayne sits down to a bland and boring breakfast since word is out that she is pregnant. Her chief clerk Halwin Norry arrives and lets Elayne know that she has received an advance on the alum deposits found on one of her estates and can now afford to expand the guard. Reene enters and informs Elayne she has found a couple more spies for other houses, which they leave alone in order to use them for disinformation.
Merilille returns from her meeting with the four Borderlander rulers, which have near 200,000 soldiers altogether. The rulers wish to meet with Elayne and she wishes to use them to gain the throne of Andor and to make sure they are not a danger to Rand. They plan to leave right away for a meeting.
